John A Brown ( 1788 -- 1872 )

Banker, born in Ireland (son of Alexander Brown). He came to Baltimore in 1802 and ran the Philadelphia branch of his father's firm (1818--37). He gave generously to Presbyterian churches in Philadelphia.
