Tenor, born in Recanati, Italy. He won a scholarship to the Liceo Musicale, Rome, and made his operatic debut in Ponchielli's La gioconda in 1914. By 1929 he had won a worldwide reputation as a lyric-dramatic tenor of great vitality, at his best in the works of Verdi and Puccini. |
