Claudio Arrau ( 1903 -- 1991 )

Pianist, born in Chillán, Chile. He studied at the Stern Conservatory, Berlin (1912--18), and taught there (1924--40). He is renowned as an interpreter of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, and Brahms. His musical thoughts were collected in Conversations with Arrau by Joseph Horowitz (1982).
