Composer, teacher, and music historian, born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She studied at Sydney University, and became a leading authority on Aboriginal and early Australian music. Her many orchestral, chamber, and instrumental compositions include Symphony in Three Movements (1964), Australian Baroque (1984), and Suite Veronese (1985).
