Harry (Philmore) Langdon ( 1884 -- 1944 )

Comedian, born in Council Bluffs, IA. As a child he appeared in amateur shows, and joined Dr Belcher's Kickapoo Indian Medicine Show in 1897. He made his film debut in the serial The Master Mystery (1918), and was signed by Mack Sennett for a series of short comedies. He moved on to features and the very popular trio of Tramp Tramp Tramp (1926), The Strong Man (1926), and Long Pants (1927). He is remembered for his character as a baby-faced innocent, handicapped by indecisiveness and bemused by the wider world. His attempts at directing failed, but he continued to work in films until the 1940s.
