Artist, born in Tumba, Sweden. He spent much time in the Mediterranean countries and took his motifs from there as well as from Sweden. His enormously colourful paintings gave him great popularity, and made him much in demand for large-scale public commissions, such as his tapestry Melodies on the Square (1937--9) in the Concert Hall in Gothenburg. He was also active as a scenic artist in the theatre.
