Alfonso Ferrabosco ( 1543 -- 1588 )

Composer, born in Bologna, Italy. He came to England before 1562, and was for some time in the service of Queen Elizabeth I. He left England in 1578 and entered the service of the Duke of Savoy. His son, also called Alfonso (1575--1628), was born in Greenwich, and served as composer for James I and Charles I.
