Orlando Gibbons ( 1583 -- 1625 )

Composer, born in Oxford, Oxfordshire, SC England, UK. He studied at Cambridge, and c.1615 was appointed organist of the Chapel Royal, London, and in 1623 of Westminster Abbey. His compositions include services, anthems, and madrigals (notably The Silver Swan), and also hymns, fantasies for viols, and music for virginals.
