Jean-Gaspard Deburau ( 1796 -- 1846 )

Mime artist, born in Kolín, Czech Republic, into a family of acrobats. He joined the Théâtre des Funambules in Paris (1816), and developed the character of Pierrot into a pale-faced hero, to the delight of audiences.
