Composer and pianist, born in Nuremberg, Germany. He studied under Paul Hindemith, and in 1934 moved to England, where he was a pupil of Vaughan Williams. Among his compositions are cello, piano, and violin concertos, the cantata Voices by Night, two radio operas, and chamber and piano music. |
