Composer and organist, an innovator of English cathedral music, probably born in London, England, UK. He studied at Cambridge, and became a doctor of music there and at Oxford. From c.1541--56 he was choirmaster at Ely Cathedral, and he may have been musical instructor to Edward VI. His surviving work includes two Latin Masses, 14 English anthems, instrumental music, and psalm settings. |
