Composer, born in Prague. He studied at the Prague Conservatory and under Max Reger in Leipzig, was professor of composition at Ithaca Conservatory, New York (1922--6), and settled in the USA in 1939. He wrote theatre music, orchestral works, and four operas, the most famous of which is Svanda Dudák (1927, Schvanda the Bagpiper). |
