Dame Myra Hess ( 1890 -- 1965 )

Pianist, born in London, England, UK. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music, and was an immediate success on her first public appearance in 1907. During World War 2 she organized the lunchtime concerts in the National Gallery, for which she became a dame in 1941.
